The Hell of Manga Artists: Weekly vs. Monthly Serialization
Recently, I watched a few interviews with manga artists, and the pressure of weekly serialization is truly terrifying:
【Weekly Serialization】
- Must submit 18-22 pages every week
- Basically no days off
- Severe toll on physical health
- However, high exposure and rapid rise in popularity
【Monthly Serialization】
- 40-60 pages per month
- Relatively more time
- Can maintain art quality
- However, popularity accumulates slowly
Yoshihiro Togashi is often criticized for taking leave, but his health condition is genuinely poor. Do you think the industry should reform the serialization system?
