Who is the King of Anime 'Crazy/Yandere' Characters? Japanese Web Poll Top 30
I saw a poll on the Japanese website spacomic asking "Who comes to mind when you think of 'crazy' (瘋批) characters?" The results were quite interesting, so I'm sharing them for everyone to discuss.
Top 10 Crazy Characters:
1. Hisoka Morow (Hunter x Hunter)
This one shouldn't be a surprise; he's the representative of perverted Nen users. His obsession with strong opponents and his nature as a battle maniac truly make him the craziest of the crazy.
2. Nagito Komaeda (Danganronpa)
The Ultimate Lucky Student, and also the Ultimate Crazy. His extreme philosophy of hope and twisted values, where he's willing to sacrifice everything for hope, make him a character you both love and hate.
3. Yumeko Jabami (Kakegurui)
A gambling fanatic who gets more excited the more dangerous the bet. That aura of elegance mixed with madness is truly captivating.
4. Riki Nendo (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.)
This one is a bit unexpected. Maybe it's because his natural airheadedness combined with his impulsiveness makes him feel unpredictable?
5. Hange Zoë (Attack on Titan)
Their fanatical attitude toward researching Titans definitely gives off a "mad scientist" vibe.
6. Tsukasa Yugi (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun)
The representative of yandere younger brothers; his obsession with his older brother reaches a twisted level.
7. Akira Takaoka (Assassination Classroom)
This one is truly a pure madman—a sadistic teacher.
8. Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto)
Sasuke was definitely quite crazy during his "chuunibyou" phase, willing to betray everything for the sake of revenge.
9. Takeru Amaya (As the Gods Will)
A crazy character in a survival game who will stop at nothing to survive.
10. Light Yagami (Death Note)
There's no need to elaborate on the madness of "Kira"; he went from a messenger of justice to a self-proclaimed god of the new world.
Others on the list include:
Junko Enoshima (Danganronpa), Sato (Ajin), Makoto Itou (School Days), Kotaro Bokuto (Haikyu!!), Aqua Hoshino (Oshi no Ko), Ego Jinpachi (Blue Lock), and more.
Personal thoughts:
This list is actually quite a good reference, and most of the characters do fit the definition of "crazy." However, I feel some characters are more "passionate" or "obsessive" rather than truly crazy?
Do you think this ranking is reasonable? Are there any "crazy" characters in your heart that didn't make the list?
