Set in the coastal city of Onomichi, Hiroshima in the near future, this story imagines a world where fish have all but vanished from Earth's oceans, leaving only whales to roam the vast seas. In response to this global fishery crisis, the Ministry of Fishery launches an ambitious initiative: constructing enormous experimental fish tanks in outer space to restore aquatic life beyond the atmosphere. To support this unprecedented endeavor, the Onomichi Universe Fishery Union is founded and begins training a new generation of space fishermen. With updated equal employment legislation increasing demand for female recruits, six young women are chosen to pioneer this extraordinary profession. Namino Murakami, Haru Soramachi, Ruby Azumi, Makoto Mitsurugi, Maiko Sakura, and Makiko Maki each bring their own backgrounds and personalities as they take their first steps toward becoming space fisherwomen in a world that desperately needs them.
