In the world of Gachiakuta, civilization exists on a floating town suspended above a vast abyss. Society is sharply divided between the wealthy elite, who enjoy lives of luxury, and the impoverished who struggle to survive on the margins. The privileged think nothing of tossing their unwanted garbage over the edge, letting it fall into the depths below. Rudo is a young boy living among the downtrodden, until one day he finds himself falsely accused of murder. The punishment for his wrongful conviction is as cruel as it is unthinkable—he is cast off the edge of the town, discarded like trash into the abyss. But the surface below is far from empty. Decades of humanity's refuse have given rise to ferocious monsters lurking in the waste. Stranded in this hellish underworld, Rudo must forge himself into a fighter if he ever hopes to claw his way back and confront those who condemned him.
