すべての闘いのはじまりに
Shizuku Kanzaki, who works in the sales department of Taiyo Beer, is one day ordered to transfer to the newly established wine division. Despite being the son of the world-renowned wine critic Yutaka Kanzaki, Shizuku has never tasted wine. While confused by the unexpected transfer, he receives news of Yutaka's death. Yutaka passed away, leaving a will for Shizuku and his adopted son, the young genius wine critic Issei Tomine. It stated that his entire estate would be bequeathed to the person who could correctly identify 12 great wines he selected and the phantom bottle standing at their peak, the "Drops of God," including the brand and vintage. Shizuku, who has no knowledge of wine, seeks help from trainee sommelier Miyabi Shinohara. While searching for wine, Miyabi accidentally breaks a bottle of Henri Jayer's "Cros Parantoux," which holds the key to a business deal.
豊穣なる大地への祈り
Shizuku and Miyabi race through the streets of Ginza to find a wine that can replace Henri Jayer's 1999 Cros Parantoux. Introduced by Shiro Fujieda, the owner-sommelier of Miyabi's favorite wine bar, they head to a park to meet a certain individual. Sensing Shizuku's extraordinary sense of smell, the person presents a "bottle" buried in the soil. Meanwhile, at the restaurant, President Soichiro Mishima reunites with his business partner Anne Guilmard after 15 years. Upon drinking the replacement wine prepared by Shizuku and Miyabi, Mishima realizes Anne's true feelings. Observing the two, Shizuku becomes interested in the "farewell wine" left by Yutaka. A week after receiving the will, Shizuku tastes the "farewell wine" with Issei and sheds tears as he remembers his late mother.
遺言状はかく語りき
Shizuku decides to transfer to the wine department. Miyabi also starts working there as an advisor. Determined to find the "Drops of God" and the "Twelve Apostles," Shizuku visits Ryoko Kiryu, the lawyer handling Yutaka's estate, to read the will entrusted to her. Issei appears and suggests to Shizuku that they both decipher the description of one of the "Twelve Apostles" simultaneously. After Shizuku agrees, they hear the description of the "First Apostle" from Kiryu. While Issei has an idea of the production area, Shizuku is completely lost. While walking through town in search of clues, he suddenly smells the scent of flowers, leading him to a gallery. There, a painting by amnesiac artist Kaori Mizusawa, depicting the mental landscape of a wine from her memories, is on display. Shizuku feels it is the very image of the "First Apostle."
人の造りしもの
Shizuku searches for the wine in the lost memories of the painter Kaori Mizusawa, a clue to the "First Apostle." Believing the hint lies in the Burgundy wine that Kaori's husband had forbidden her from drinking, Shizuku poses as a sommelier at Mishima's French restaurant and tastes every wine ordered by the guests. During this, he notices something when he tastes the wine ordered by a musician named Sosuke Makabe. Later, Kaori visits the restaurant again with her husband; after drinking the wine served by Shizuku, she finally regains her lost memories. Shizuku is convinced this wine is the "First Apostle." Meanwhile, Issei Tomine has also identified the "First Apostle" with 99% certainty through his experience and imagination. Without tasting, the two bring the wines they believe to be the "First Apostle" to the Kanzaki estate.
ワイン事業部の怪人
Chousuke Honma has been assigned to the Wine Department. Honma is such an enthusiast that he has a cellar in his room dedicated solely to Italian wine. Moreover, he seems to possess a sense of smell capable of distinguishing between Italian and French wines just by scent. Soon after his assignment, Honma declares that the Taiyo Beer Wine Department will only handle Italian wine. Irritated by this arbitrary policy, Shizuku fiercely rebels against Honma. Unable to watch the two clash, Kawarage and Miyabi suggest holding a tasting event featuring Italian and French wines, letting employees choose between them. While considering which wines to present, Shizuku one day witnesses a man smashing wine bottles one after another. Upon hearing the details, Shizuku learns that the man's customers and staff have disappeared due to a harsh review article by Issei.
あの日の笑顔をもう一度
An opportunity for a major contract comes to the wine department. The client is Takasugi, Miyabi Shinohara's middle school classmate and first love. To open a supermarket specializing in top-tier ingredients and alcohol, Takasugi orders a lineup consisting only of famous premium wines, led by the first-growth Château Margaux. Shizuku Kanzaki and Chousuke Honma are dissatisfied with Takasugi's approach of measuring wine value solely by price and fame. Faced with a changed Takasugi, Miyabi Shinohara pleads for him to compare their selected wine against the luxury wines he requested. Takasugi accepts on the condition that if their wine is far from Margaux's level, he will scout Miyabi Shinohara to his company. Shizuku Kanzaki and the others visit the Ishigawa brothers, Miyabi Shinohara's middle school classmates who run a wine shop, to find clues.
時を駆ける天馬
To prove to Takasugi that a wine doesn't have to be famous to be top-tier, Shizuku, Miyabi, and Honma race to find the right bottle. Shizuku relies on Issei and successfully finds a 1975 Margaux—a big vintage but with a mediocre finish. In search of a wine from a lower-ranked chateau of the same year that surpasses the Margaux, they visit Robert, who instructs them to take a letter to a wine school. Upon arrival, the three are led to the washing area. While washing dishes to pay off Robert’s wine debt, they taste the remnants of over 500 Bordeaux wines used in tastings, yet the final convincing bottle remains elusive. Meanwhile, Miyabi receives a call from Takasugi and goes to dinner. She presses him on what happened to change him since their student days.
微笑みはミステリアス
The description of the "Second Apostle" has been announced. Shizuku and Issei begin their respective searches, using the clue of the "Mona Lisa" as a hint. While visiting the Kanzaki estate, Shizuku reunites with Maiko Natsuyagi, a mystery novelist. Maiko consults Shizuku about a strange bottle of wine she received, which has a completely black label. The letter accompanying the wine contains what could be interpreted as a threat, stating, "If you do not uncover the identity of this wine, you will lose your life," prompting Shizuku to take on this mystery. Later, when Shizuku visits Maiko's house and offers a bottle of wine as a gift, Maiko refuses, saying, "I don't drink second wines." Meanwhile, Issei believes that experiencing "thirst" is necessary to find the "Second Apostle." While wandering through the Taklamakan Desert, he meets Laurent, a woman whose mother is Japanese.
潤いと癒しの微笑みに
Natsuyagi suddenly collapsed after drinking an unidentified wine at the publication commemoration party. To Natsuyagi, who regained consciousness in the hospital, Shizuku reveals that he intentionally let only Natsuyagi drink the wrong wine. Hearing this, Natsuyagi begins to open up about her inner thoughts on why she drank the poison. Meanwhile, Issei, who is in the Taklamakan Desert, is fleeing from pursuing bandits along with Laurent. Having sought "thirst" to the absolute limit, Issei, in a daze in the sub-zero desert, tastes a wine Laurent found in the sand and arrives at the answer he was searching for. To whom will the "Second Apostle" Mona Lisa smile, Shizuku or Issei?
大いなる時の流れを
Ryusuke Kido is assigned to the Wine Department as a new member. After Kido quickly angers Honma by declaring "wine is out of the question for me," Shizuku takes charge of him as his mentor. In search of "a wine that makes someone who has no intention of drinking feel like drinking," Shizuku heads to the villa in Karuizawa where he once tried to steal and drink Yutaka's collection. Thanks to a thoughtful gesture by the villa's caretaker, Murakoshi, the two are allowed into the underground cave. Reading through the tens of thousands of bottles of wine and the tasting comments attached to them, Shizuku reflects on Yutaka. Upon returning to Tokyo, the description of the "Third Apostle" is unveiled...
郷愁の場所で出会った大きな手
Shizuku and Issei bring the wines they believe to be the "Third Apostle" to the Kanzaki mansion. However, both make a wrong judgment, and Robert declares them "both disqualified." Unable to ignore the two as they plead for "one more chance," Robert grants them a three-day grace period. After drinking "Gigondas," Shizuku becomes convinced that the wine of the "Third Apostle," symbolizing "Nostalgia," is made from "old, or rather, ancient Grenache vines." While tasting matching wines at Takasugi's supermarket, he senses the "Third Apostle" from an old tree art object made of wine corks. Meanwhile, Issei spends three days alone at an amusement park, searching for hints to the "Third Apostle." As he watches the spinning teacups, he is drawn back into his childhood memories.
遥かなる道を往け
The day of the showdown over the 'Third Apostle' has arrived once again. As Shizuku Kanzaki and Issei Tomine face the tasting at the same time, the battle comes to an unexpected conclusion. Returning to his busy daily life, Issei Tomine is preparing for an upcoming dinner where 'failure is absolutely not allowed.' Laurent is entrusted with managing this important wine. However, Maki, who does not appreciate Laurent being favored by Issei Tomine despite her years of support as a patron, pulls strings behind the scenes to have a spoiled wine served. How will Issei Tomine overcome this crisis? Meanwhile, feeling responsible for holding Issei Tomine back, Laurent decides that he should not remain by Issei's side and resolves to return to his home country.
初恋の人に似し君は
The description of the "Fourth Apostle" themed around "first love." Saying he is looking for someone, Issei travels to a certain bar in Yokohama and reunites with a man named Jack. Meanwhile, in the Wine Department, a request arrives for Shizuku from the musician Sosuke Makabe, asking him to coordinate the wine for an event blending wine and music on a luxury cruise ship. For this concert themed around "first love," Shizuku must search for a wine that complements the music of Japanese violinist Minade Aki. Coincidentally, Shizuku and Minade had met in France 15 years ago. Her tone, which Shizuku "could never forget," sounds even lonelier now than it did back then...
失踪した女神たち
Five bottles of wine have been stolen from the underground cellar of the Kanzaki family villa. All of them are rare, irreplaceable wines with a combined value of over 10 million yen. There are four suspects who visited the estate during the timeframe when the crime could have occurred. Shockingly, Robert is among them. Arriving at the Kanzaki estate, Shizuku and Issei taste-test a over-100-year-old "Château Margaux" left to them by Yutaka, in order to understand the true caliber of the stolen wines. Overwhelmed by its extraordinary flavor, the two agree to solve the case and retrieve the wine from the culprit. They invite the other three suspects, excluding Robert, to the Karuizawa villa to flush out the criminal. "Wine and Mystery" begins now.
ワインにミステリーを添えて
Through Shizuku and Issei's strategy, the culprit who stole wine from the underground cellar of the Kanzaki estate is revealed. However, there was a pitiable circumstance behind it. Just then, information comes in that thousands of wines with unknown labels are lying dormant. It is said that if they can appraise the collection within three days, they can save the culprit. To utilize each other's specialties, Shizuku and Laurent proceed with the appraisal by aroma, while Miyabi and Issei identify the wines by their capsule seals, corks, and storage conditions. As the work progresses, Issei highly praises Miyabi's work and passionate attitude toward wine, inviting her to join his staff. Meanwhile, Shizuku is also impressed by Laurent's taste, smell, and sensitivity while sorting through the wines with her. On the third day, Shizuku and the others gather once more to begin tasting the appraised wines.
