Introduction / Synopsis

Summary

The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior is a TV anime produced by Brain's Base and directed by Shigeyuki Miya, based on the manga by Ruri Miyahara. Follow Kazunari Usa as he moves into the Kawai Complex, only to find himself surrounded by a hilariously eccentric group of housemates—including the sharp-tongued Mayumi Nishikino and the peculiar Shizuru Shirosaki. His heart, however, belongs to the quiet bookworm Ritsu Kawai. Blending slice-of-life warmth with charming romantic tension, this comedy series crafted under series composition by Kenji Konuta delivers a delightfully wholesome take on shared living and first love.

Plot

Kazunari Usa is a high school student with a simple dream: to live independently and enjoy the freedom of a bachelor lifestyle away from his family. When he finally moves into his new apartment, however, he quickly realizes that life on his own is far more complicated than he ever imagined. His new living situation comes with an unexpected and eccentric roommate whose peculiar personality threatens to upend his peaceful plans from the very start. Yet not everything about the building is a disappointment — among the residents, Kazunari crosses paths with Ritsu Kawai, a girl who captures his heart at first glance. Set within the walls of an apartment filled with colorful and unconventional tenants, this romantic comedy follows a young man navigating the chaotic gap between his idealized vision of independence and the wonderfully messy reality that awaits him.
