Yasu Nakamura

Yasu Nakamura is the maternal grandmother of the protagonist, Miya Nakamura, in My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked. Following the death of Miya's mother, Miya is taken in by the prestigious Kōnokura family, prompting Yasu to pay a sudden visit and offer to take Miya back under her care. Although she claims to worry about her granddaughter adjusting to life in a high-class household, it is revealed that Yasu has actually made a contractual agreement to send Miya to work as an apprentice at a merchant house. While Yasu is highly pragmatic, money-minded, and calculative—often showing a worldly shrewdness that contrasts with her previous lack of aid during her daughter's illness—she still harbors genuine affection for Miya. Upon learning of Miya's firm desire to stay with the Kōnokura family, Yasu chooses to respect her granddaughter's wishes and steps back, warmly telling Miya that she is always welcome to return if life there ever becomes too difficult.
