Building my first MG Gundam at forty—it's never too late

I've never built a model kit since I was a kid, but for my fortieth birthday, a friend gifted me an MG Freedom Gundam 2.0. I initially thought it would be very difficult, but after watching some tutorials online, I realized it's actually not that complicated. It took me three weekends to finally finish it! Just a straight build with panel lining; although the craftsmanship is a bit rough, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I'd like to ask the veterans here: 1. What would you recommend for my next kit? 2. Are there any ways to deal with nub marks? 3. Is it worth learning how to airbrush? Never feel like you're too old to start!

From a financial perspective: MG kits are about $300-500 each, which is much cheaper than figures. Plus, the building process itself is entertainment.

Buying Gundam models in Japan is 20-30% cheaper than in Hong Kong. If you have any friends going to Japan, you could ask them to bring some back for you.

A hobby knife + 600-grit sandpaper + Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color are the three essential starter tools. These three things are enough to significantly improve your work.

Straight-build with panel lining already looks great! If there are nub marks, just scrape them gently with a hobby knife and then sand them down, and it'll be fine.

If you're looking into spray painting, I suggest starting with spray cans; there's no need to buy an air compressor right away. Spray cans can already achieve pretty good results.
