Do you guys skip the dialogue and just look at the pictures when reading manga?

Asking a slightly embarrassing question... do you guys skip the text dialogue and just look at the visuals when reading manga?

Sometimes when I'm reading manga with amazing fight scenes, I subconsciously skip the dialogue and just look at the action panels. Especially with manga that have a lot of text (like the narration in the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter), sometimes I just can't take it all in.

But later on, I realize I've missed a lot of important plot points... and have to go back and re-read them 😂

Do you guys have this habit? Or do you read every single word carefully?

Not to mention skipping dialogue in manga I've bought but haven't read... since I haven't even cracked them open yet (bitter laugh)

As a manga creator... it really breaks my heart to hear that people skip the dialogue 😂 But I understand; some manga really do have walls of text. As a reader, it's actually okay to look at the art first during battle scenes and then go back to read the dialogue.

Honestly... I do skip sometimes. Especially with webtoons that have a lot of nonsense dialogue. But for classic works, I definitely read every single word.

I read every single word! Especially the narration in "HxH"—even though Togashi's text is dense, every sentence has meaning. If you skip it, you'll really miss a lot of important information.
