Recommended Mystery and Suspense Anime from the Last Five Years, These Are Worth Watching
I've compiled a list of mystery and suspense anime I've watched over the past five years to share with friends who enjoy this genre.
2020
"ID:INVADED"
High-energy from the very first episode, maintaining a high level throughout. A must-watch for fans of concept-driven mystery. Although the ending is slightly underwhelming, it remains one of the best original suspense works in recent years.
"In/Spectre"
Excellent character design, dialogue-heavy, and a highly imaginative take on the mystery genre. Suitable for viewers who enjoy supernatural elements mixed with logical argumentation.
"Talentless Nana"
The best battle royale-style anime in recent years. The early episodes are thrilling and intense, with a twist later on. If you don't mind some loose logic, I highly recommend it.
"Pet"
Requires pausing to digest the setting. It's a slow burn, but once you get into it, it's very interesting.
2021
"ODDTAXI"
A story in the style of Kotaro Isaka. Essential for fans of multi-threaded narratives. It gets better as it progresses, and the ending is legendary. This was truly a surprise among original animations in recent years.
"Moriarty the Patriot"
Provided a whole year's worth of cool moments! A chaotic blend of British elements, and the second season takes things even further.
2022
"Summer Time Rendering"
The premise is eye-catching, and the villain's intellect is suffocatingly brilliant. Overall, the plot is top-tier, and the action is engaging. An excellent work in the time-loop genre.
2023
"Link Click II"
Compared to the first season, it abandons the gimmicky story model and puts more effort into the script, with a stronger focus on suspense and criminal investigation.
"Undead Murder Farce"
With logic backed by "Heisei Queen" Yugo Aosaki, this is a mystery work full of sincerity.
Personal Top 3
1. ODDTAXI (The narrative technique is stunning)
2. ID:INVADED (The pinnacle of concept-driven mystery)
3. Summer Time Rendering (Tight plot with no dull moments)
Does anyone else have any mystery or suspense anime recommendations?
