Far into the future, the world has been reduced to a barren wasteland, and humanity clings to survival within massive mobile fortress cities known as Plantations. Deep inside one such city lies a special residential block called Mistilteinn—nicknamed the "Birdcage"—where a group of young children are raised with a singular purpose. These children are trained to pilot giant mechs called FRANXX, humanity's primary weapon against the Kyoryu, enormous and enigmatic creatures that threaten what little civilization remains. Among these pilots is Hiro, Code 016, once celebrated as a prodigy but now struggling to find his place. His stagnant existence is suddenly disrupted when a striking and mysterious girl named Zero Two crosses his path. With horns on her head and a reputation that precedes her, she utters words that will change everything. What destiny awaits these two, and what secrets lie beneath the iron sky of the Birdcage?
