AI animation technology is becoming increasingly mature; are you worried it will replace hand-drawn animation?
I've recently seen a few cases of AI-assisted animation production, and the speed of technological development is truly astonishing. Some can already handle the automatic generation of in-between frames, and there are even people who have made short films using AI that you wouldn't even realize were AI-generated if they didn't tell you.
There are two schools of thought within the industry:
- Supporters: AI can reduce the workload of animators and improve their working conditions.
- Opponents: AI will steal jobs and cause the loss of the "warmth" of hand-drawn art.
As a viewer, what I care about most is the final quality. If AI can help with highly repetitive tasks, allowing animators more time to focus on key frames and revisions, I don't think that's a bad thing.
But if one day AI completely replaces hand-drawn animation... that would be truly terrifying. What does everyone think?
