Anime I dropped after the first episode but later discovered were masterpieces

Some anime really don't have an appealing first episode, but if you stick with them, you realize they're masterpieces. Here's my experience:<br><br>1. "Steins;Gate" — The first few episodes were boring to death, but it became legendary after episode 12.<br>2. "Odd Taxi" — Thought it was for kids after the first episode, but it turned out to be the best of the year.<br>3. "Gintama" — Almost gave up after the first few dozen episodes, but later I laughed until I cried.<br>4. "Gintama" — Same as above.<br><br>Do you have any similar experiences? Masterpieces you almost missed out on?
