Japanese Government Officially Designates Anime as a "Key Cultural Export Industry"

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has released a report officially designating the anime industry as a "Key Cultural Export Industry" and announced a series of support measures:

1. Annual budget increased to 50 billion yen
2. Minimum wage guarantees for animators
3. Overseas promotion subsidy programs
4. Funding for talent training schools

This is good news for the industry, but whether it can truly improve the treatment of animators remains to be seen. What do you all think?

From a financial perspective: The average annual income for an animator is 2-3 million yen (approx. HK$110,000-170,000). It is really difficult to make a living in Tokyo with this income.
