[About the actual machine]
The A-10 Thunder II is a dedicated close air support and ground attack aircraft operated by the U.S. Army since 1977. It is equipped with twin engines and the main wing adopts a straight wing style, which is its main feature. There are 11 hard points under the main wings and the fuselage, which can carry 7,260 kilograms of bombs, rockets, missiles, etc. In addition, the nose is equipped with a GAU-8/A Avenger automatic cannon, achieving high attack capability. Improvement work continued after deployment. The A-10C launched in 2005 was an improvement on the A model and implemented a glass cockpit. It participated in the 1991 Gulf War and demonstrated its high reliability and attack capabilities, earning high praise. The Air Force Reserve, 47th Combat Flight Team, 917th Aviation Regiment, based at Barksdale Air Force Base, was one of the units operating the A-10 and tested various camouflage patterns in the 1980s after deployment. This kit reproduces the features of the A-10, namely the metal parts of the nose-mounted GAU-8 Avenger Gatling Cannon (manufactured by Master) and the metal pitot tube. The complete length is 338mm, and the characteristic shapes of the straight wings and the two engines on the back are fully reproduced. Not only the body shape, but also panel lines, etc. are realistically expressed. Some inspection panels, etc. can be assembled with the option of opening and closing.
In addition, the kit also comes with masking stickers for easy painting of the hood frame. The markings are desert camouflage markings experimentally applied in the 1980s to A-10As operated by the Air Force Reserve, 917th Aviation Regiment, 47th Fighter Wing. Although not formalized, this rare desert camouflage is featured on the A-10.
