The Abyss Crawler is the third generation of Hexa Gear developed in the Free Alliance.
It was developed to explore and suppress closed terrain such as culverts. Unlike other third-generation models, it has two Zoatex modes. Zoatex will be displayed under normal conditions. This is its characteristic.
At the beginning of the war, city centers in various places were attacked by unmanned Hexa Gear called Hydostorm. Subsequent investigations confirmed that there are still many huge underground pipes and facilities in the old era that were used as invasion routes during the attack. The Freedom Alliance urgently needs to clarify these situations as soon as possible. As a result, almost all geographical information about the underground structure has been lost, and it has become enemy territory where the Hexa Gear and robots of the MSG mutant force prowl.
In particular, Hydostorm, headed by VIC Knife, who specializes in electronic warfare, poses a great threat. They exposed the communication lines, repeaters, and transmission lines connecting various cities, threatening the Freedom Alliance's communications from underground. The Freedom Alliance recognized the need to clean up this contaminated underground and hurriedly prepared specialized troops and Hexa Gear.
During the development process, the wreckage of the destroyed Hydostorm was recovered and its frame structure was redesigned for use. However, the goals of reproduction, control, and neutralization of the VIC knife phenomenon have not yet been determined, and only suboptimal countermeasures can be adopted. The intrusion counterattack shield equipped on the left arm weapon, commonly known as "ICS", is one such measure. Due to a chronic parts shortage, only a few were built at first, formed into teams, and sent into the darkness underground. There are countless heavily polluted areas (Level 6 "Abyss") underground due to the operation of crystal furnaces, which are incomparable to surface polluted areas.
