As a scout for new anime, I don't entirely agree. The reason I watch everything every season is to find hidden gems. If you don't try them, how would you know if they're good or not?
The winter season's Star Ocean: The Divine Force (or Stellar Journey) shouldn't be overlooked. It's truly rare for an original anime to be produced at such a high quality.
The problem is that every platform has exclusive titles. To watch all the shows, you'd have to subscribe to several, which is too expensive.
