Although Steins;Gate is a masterpiece, its pacing is slow, so newcomers might not be able to handle it; I suggest building up some patience first.
Anime food critic's recommendation: Try the curry rice or hot pot from Laid-Back Camp! It feels amazing to eat while watching.
The food scenes in the animation are super appealing. If the elders enjoy cooking, you could start with "What Did You Eat Yesterday?".
